How to prepare your wall
1. Commercial Vinyl (Removable)
- Clean the Wall: Ensure the wall is free from dust, dirt, and grease. Clean the surface with a mild soap solution and allow it to dry completely.
- Smooth the Surface: Fill any holes or cracks with wall filler, then sand the surface smooth. Ensure the wall is even for optimal adhesion.
- Prime the Wall (if necessary): If the wall has a glossy finish or if you’re applying over a dark color, use a primer to ensure better adhesion and color accuracy.
- Test for Adhesion: Before applying, check that the wall surface is dry and smooth to ensure the vinyl adheres properly.
2. Peel and Stick (Removable)
- Clean the Wall: Wipe down the wall to remove any dust, dirt, or grease. Use a mild soap solution and allow it to dry thoroughly.
- Smooth the Surface: Repair any imperfections, such as holes or cracks, and sand the wall to create a smooth surface. This helps the adhesive stick better.
- Ensure Dryness: Make sure the wall is completely dry before applying the wallpaper. Moisture can affect the adhesive’s performance.
- Remove Existing Wallpaper: If there's old wallpaper, remove it completely to ensure a clean surface for the peel and stick wallpaper.
3. Traditional Wallpaper
- Clean the Wall: Clean the wall with a mild soap solution to remove dust, grease, and stains. Allow the wall to dry fully.
- Prepare the Surface: Fill in any holes or cracks with wall filler and sand the surface smooth. Ensure the wall is even and free from imperfections.
- Apply Wallpaper Primer: Use a wallpaper primer to prepare the wall. This helps the paste adhere better and prevents the wallpaper from peeling over time.
- Check for Dryness: Ensure the wall is completely dry before applying the wallpaper. A dry surface ensures the adhesive bonds properly.
Following these preparation steps will help ensure a smooth application and a professional finish for your chosen wallpaper type.
